After giving birth - when should you start steaming for postpartum care? Right away or after bleeding stops?
Steaming should be initiated as soon as possible, even while there is fresh postpartum bleeding or lochia. However, steaming should not be done if there is any bleeding from the uterine blood vessels. It takes a trained practitioner to determine the difference. Also, steaming can be recommended on one day but then, based on the discharge, can be contraindicated the next day. It is best to steam under the guidance and supervision of a steam practitioner trained specifically in postpartum steaming.
